Will they replace us in the future???

In our imagination the word "Robot" is connected to science fiction films. We see machines as humans, being able to perform many things that we, humans, can't. The technological evolution didn't skip the robots and as the years have passed, they have become an inseparable part of our life. The question that concerns many, is will the robots replace humans one day?
All over the world giant companies are trying to expose the young generation to the new progression of technology and robots as well.
"First" is the first company that has started developing a worldwide robotics project in which many schools from all around the world compete. This year, for the second time, “Kfar Galim” school has been chosen to participate in robotics competition. Last year we took the third place and this year we hope to win.
A few words about us and our project: In the project participate students from 11-12 grades who study the orientation of computers and electronics. These students stay after school hours and devote from their free time to the development of the robot.
In addition to students there are also "Electricity" teachers involved in the project: Israel Goldshtein – the head of the electricity staff and the project., Avi Shemer – computer programming and web site building, Efraim (Efi) Gur – mechanics, Michael Shkolnitsky – programming, Baruh Rubinov – electronics, Izchak Miller – electronics and Itzik Levi – electricity. There are also the ingeeners Sharon Gur from "Intel"and Yaron Shafran from "Insightec" doing everything they can to help create the "Winning Robot".
Robot developing includes a number of stages and each team which consists of several students is responsible on a different stage: Program writing and development, Mechanical construction, Assembling the electronical system of the robot, Creating website for the school.
In robot construction like in any other thing in life we face difficulties, sometimes they delay us in the development progress but in the end we always solve them.
In 1/7/06 we were asked to come to the ceremony that was held in Natanya in wich about 30 schools were instructed about the robot's porpouse and how the competetion would be held. Likewise, the teams got their kits with the necessary parts for the robot. The kits contained the parts that enabled us, the participants to think of the idea and build the robot.
The period of time given to create the robot is six weeks, at the end of which the robots from different schools will be gathered and taken away until the competition day and the competitors will have no possibility to add or fix things.
Our creation's goal is to score as many balls as it's possible into an opening located about 2.5 meters above the floor or to goal the balls into opponent's goalpost.
In each round compete six schools divided into two alliances, meaning 3 versus 3. An alliance's goal is to win each round while each robot's goal is to score the biggest number of points in each round and wins.
What you, school students, have left to do, is to cross fingers and hope that the robot represents us with dignity and honor and takes the first place.

האם בעתיד הם יחליפו בני אדם???

בדמיוננו מתקשרת המילה "רובוט" לסרטי מדע בדיוני. אנו רואים בעיני רוחנו מכונה בדמות אדם, המסוגלת לבצע פעולות רבות שאין בכוחנו, בני האדם, לבצע.
התפתחות הטכנולוגיה לא פסחה על תחום הרובוטים ובמשך השנים הם הפכו להיות חלק בלתי נפרד מחיינו. השאלה שמטרידה רבים מאיתנו היא האם בעתיד יחליפו הרובוטים את בני האדם?
ברחבי העולם חברות גדולות מנסות לחשוף את הדור הצעיר להתפתחות החדשה של הטכנולוגיה ובין היתר לעניין הרובוטים.
כמו כן, חברת פירסט העולמית החלה לפתח פרוייקט רובוטים עולמי בו משתתפים בתי ספר רבים מרחבי העולם. בית ספרנו "כפר גלים" נבחר זו השנה השניה ברציפות להשתתף בפרוייקט. בשנה שעברה היתה זו הפעם הראשונה שבית הספר נבחר להשתתף בתחרות הרובוטים ואף זכה במקום השלישי. השנה הציפיה היא לזכות במקום הראשון.
אני רואה שאתם לא יכולים להתאפק ורוצים לדעת מי משתתף בפרוייקט? ומהי מטרתו של הרובוט? אז נספר לכם בקצרה:
ברובוט משתתפים תלמידים מכיתות י"א-י"ב אשר משתייכים למגמת אלקטרוניקה ומחשבים. תלמידים אלו נשארים לאחר שעות הלימודים ותורמים מזמנם החופשי לפיתוח הרובוט.
בנוסף לתלמידים, מעורבים בפרוייקט הנ"ל מורים ממגמת אלקטרוניקה: ישראל גולדשטיין - מרכז המגמה והפרוייקט, אבי שמר - תכנות ובניית האתר, אפי גור - מיכניקה, מיכאל שקולנסקי - תכנות, ברוך רובינוב - אלקטרוניקה, יצחק מילר - אלקטרוניקה ואיציק לוי - חשמל. כמו כן ממשתתפים המהנדסים שרון גור מחברת אינטל וירון שפרן מחברת Insightec אשר עושים כל שביכולתם כדי ליצור "רובוט מנצח".
פיתוח הרובוט כולל מספר שלבים ולכן בניית הרובוט מתחלקת למספר קבוצות: פיתוח וכתיבת התוכנה, בניה מכאנית של הרובוט, הרכבת המערכת האלקטרונית של הרובוט ובניית אתר אינטרנט של בית הספר.
בבניית הרובוט, כמו בכל תחום אחר בחיים אנו נתקלים בקשיים, לפעמים קשיים אלו מעכבים אותנו בהתקדמות הפיתוח אך בסופו של דבר הם נפתרים.
ב- 7/01/06 נתבקשנו להגיע לכנס הנערך בנתניה בו הדריכו כ-30 בתי ספר מרחבי הארץ מהי מטרתו של הרובוט? כיצד מבצעת התחרות. ובכנס זה חולקו לצוותים ערכות המכילות חלקים להרכבת הרובוט. הערכות הכילו חלקים אשר אפשרו לנו, משתתפי הפרוייקט לגבש רעיון ואף לבנות את הרובוט.
הזמן שהוקצב לבניית הרובוט הינו שישה שבועות, בחלוף ששת השבועות נאספים הרובוטים מבתי הספר ואין אפשרות לצוותים לתקן או להוסיף בהם דברים.
מטרתו של הרובוט היא לנסות ולקלוע כמה שיותר כדורים לחור הניצב בגובה של כ-2.5 מטר או להכניס כדורים לתוך שערו של היריב.
בכל שלב מתמודדים שש קבוצות. כלומר שלוש נגד שלוש. המטרה של הקבוצה לנצח בכל סיבוב ומטרתו של כל רובוט לאגור את מספר הנקודות והניצחונות הרבים ביותר.
מה שנותר לכם, תלמידי בית הספר, הוא לקוות שהרובוט ייצג אותנו בכבוד ויגיע למקום הראשון.
